Canmore, in Alberta, is famous as a recreational resort city. Located approximately hundred kilometres from Calgary, Canmore has a population of about 15,000 residents. Initially known as a coal mining city, it is now regarded as a popular vacation destination.
Canmore has a mild climate with moderate snowy winters and low humidity levels; summers are mostly dry. In Canmore, there is plenty of sunshine all round the year.
After Canmore’s importance as a coal mining city declined, the announcement that it would be hosting the Nordic events in the Olympics revived its receding economy. The tourism industry was also given a boost; at present, Canmore is a famous tourist destination.
