Home to more per capita parkland than any other Canadian city, Edmonton, Alberta also falls on the North Saskatchewan River valley parks system, so there are plenty of sports activities along the river. Flowing from the Canadian Rockies into central Saskatchewan, the North Saskatchewan is the perfect spot for plenty of water and land sports.

All told, the North Saskatchewan River valley parks system covers more than 20 times as much land as New York City’s famed Central Park. The river valley is home to 22 major parks, 14 ravines and 11 lakes, many of which are connected to the world-class hiking and biking trails of the 300-kilometre Waskahegan Trail.

There are also several golf courses along the river, and skiing (both downhill and cross-country) and ice skating are popular in the valley as well. Meanwhile, fishing is one of the hidden gems of the North Saskatchewan, which is home to clean waters, plenty of space and countless species of fish.
