Home to popular destinations like City Hall and the Art Gallery of Alberta, Churchill Square in Edmonton is perpetually a hub of activity for the city of more than 700,000 people. Named after famous British politician Sir Winston Churchill, the civic square has been a pride of the city ever since it took its current form in the 1950s.
Along with Edmonton’s City Hall and the Art Gallery of Alberta, Churchill Square sports the Citadel Theatre, Francis Winspear Center for Music, Stanley A. Milner Library, Edmonton City Centre and Provincial Court of Alberta, as well. The square also includes an amphitheatre, artificial waterfall and several retail units.
Churchill Square regularly hosts many annual Edmonton celebrations, including the Edmonton International Street Performers Festival, Taste of Edmonton, Edmonton Fashion Week, Cariwest, Pride Festival and the 13-day Works Art & Design Festival.
