Situated on Churchill Square in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, the Citadel Theatre is home to some of the best stage productions anywhere in all of Alberta. Ever since the November 1965 opening night of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, its first play, the Citadel’s top-notch roster of actors and actresses has been wowing audiences with its award-winning performances.
The Citadel’s most recent upcoming productions include classics like Death of a Salesman, The Rocky Horror Show, The Sound of Music, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Red and God of Carnage, alongside lesser-known plays that have proved to be just as captivating. From September until May, the Citadel’s calendar is regularly packed with performances and its seats filled with people.
The Citadel building also features features EastBound Bistro and Bar at the Citadel, which serves up tasty and affordable Canadian, Italian and Japanese cuisine, and a cafe, The Second Cup. Both are usually open for pre- or post-show meals, whether you want to sit down or just have a quick bite on your way into the seating area.
