Tourist Guide Jasper
Jasper, in Alberta, is the economic centre of Jasper National Park. Set amidst the evergreen forests and serene lakes, Jasper is known for its natural beauty. With about 4,643 inhabitants, it is a renowned World Heritage Site with over a million visitors each year.
Jasper receives short summers with July being the warmest month. Winters are long and varied with cycles of stormy winds. January is the coolest month. Periodic snowfall with mild Chinook breeze is also experienced in winters.
In 1907, the reigning government established the Jasper Forest Park, officially constituted as the Jasper National Park in 1930.
Tourism is the most prominent industry with a major section of the population employed here. It is followed by transportation and retail industries.
