Red Deer is a city in Central Alberta in Canada. It is located near the midpoint of the Calgary Edmonton Corridor and is known to be the third most populous city followed by Edmonton and Calgary. This city is located in aspen parkland and is a region of rolling hills which are focused on grain, cattle and oil production. This city is a center for agriculture and oil distribution and the surrounding region is a major center for petrochemical production.
Red Deer County surrounds the city which takes its name from the river, which was named by the Scottish Traders. In 2007, the population of the city grew by 2,734 to 85,705 who were residing in the city. Nearly 90 percent of the residents speak English as a first language. Red Deer is home to almost 1,800 recent immigrants who make more than 2 percent of the population. As per the 2006 Federal Census this city was the most closely resembling the country as a whole.
