When to visit
Alberta is known as the most beautiful of the Canadian provinces, and is one of the most geographically diverse places in the world. Alberta experiences warm summers and snowy winters. This is a popular holiday spot for festivals and outdoor activities attracting travelers especially in the summer months. Tourists visit this place in winters (January and February) as it is great for a ski holiday. The months of May to August are the high season - perfect for hiking and admiring Canada's natural beauty under the sun. Compared to summer, spring and fall offer cooler climate with chances of snowfall. Irrespective of the climate, there are moderate crowd year round. The month of July tends to be more crowded as this is the time, when the 10 day Calgary Stampede takes place, know also as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. This stampeded is known as the largest rodeo that takes place in the world and also the largest festival held in Alberta. The best time to travel to the mountains for viewing the scenery and for hiking is from June to September. The resort towns of Lake Louise, Jasper and Banff are crowded in the month of July and August. As this time, it is the busiest place; one can visit the mountains in June or September.
