Attractions and things to do

The oldest national park in Canada, Banff National Park was established in 1885 with an area of around 6,641 sq km. The reserve was established to protect the hot sulphur springs in this area.

This region has a rich legacy with the Stoneys, Kootenay and Blackfoot people occupying it. The landscape of this park is dominated by a mountainous terrain, glaciers, ice fields, coniferous forests and grasslands.

The region is rich in wildlife with animals from the cat family, bears, caribou and wolves. The adventurous can enjoy activities such as hiking through the Cory Pass Loop, camping, canoeing on Lake Louise, mountaineering and skiing close to ski resorts like Mount Norquay. Make sure you do not miss the famous Upper Hot Springs.
