Established in 1929, Riding Mountain National Park has an area of around 2,970 sq km. This region has a rich history being inhabited by the Ojibwa and Assiniboine people.
This park protects diverse vegetation zones like forestland, grasslands and wetlands. Such diverse habitat is home to animals like moose, elk, bison and black bear and 260 bird species.
With more than 400 km of trails, hiking and backpacking are popular activities. Mountain biking and cycling can be enjoyed along the picturesque Strathclair Trail or the challenging Baldy Hill Trail. Clear Lake offers opportunities for scuba-diving, sailing, and canoeing. You can try the snowmobiles or opt for cross-country skiing in the winter.
