| Attractions and things to do |
Hawthorne Cottage is a piece of architectural beauty as well as an important historical site. It is a nineteenth-century building that belonged to Captain Bob Bartlett, a famous arctic explorer. The building houses thousands of household items that belonged to the Bartlett family. The Green Room in the cottage is a major attraction. It has several artefacts from the voyages of Bob Bartlett.
There is provision for entertainment also at the Hawthorne Cottage. A number of videos on Bartlett’s life are screened at the bungalow regularly and are worth watching. ‘Live on the Lawn’, a live theatre performance, is staged in the beautiful heritage gardens of the house. The site is also home to the popular Brigus Blueberry Festival held in the second week of August. |
