Prince Edward Island has an area of 5683 sq km. Its capital is Charlottetown, while the population is about 135,900.
Located in Canada, the island is also referred to as the Garden of Gulf. The island lies in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, with Cape Breton Island to its west, New Brunswick to its east and the Nova Scotia Peninsula to the north. The island’s terrain is characterized by rolling hills, untouched forests, ocean cove, reddish white sandy beaches and the popular red soil.
The Scottish form the largest ethnic group in Prince Edward Island followed by English, Irish, French, German and Dutch. The island’s economy relies heavily on the seasonal industries of agriculture, tourism and fishery. |
