Courtenay is located on the east coast of Vancouver Island of British Columbia in Canada.
It is one of the largest cities in the whole area and is sometimes also called as Comox valley by many visitors. The city got its name from Courtenay River, and the river was named after George William Courtenay captain of the British ship HMS Constance.
With its beautiful location, this city has one of the most beautiful farming lands with galleries, theaters restaurants and shops. Courtenay is rich in cultural heritage that is reflected in various art exhibitions and museums.
One can visit this city at any season as Courtenay offers different seasonal flavors for its visitors. The climate is comfortable throughout the year. During summers one can find art festivals and a wide variety of craft fairs. In winters one can visit the Fish Hatchery or roam around in the Comox valley.
The population of this place comes to 21,940 according to 2000 census.
