Duncan is located in the center of Cowichan Region. This city is situated, off the Trans Canada Highway and about halfway between Victoria and Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.
Being a historical city this place has many historical monuments and sites that are worth visiting. Duncan got its name from William Chambers Duncan who arrived to this city in the year 1862 and soon settlers came down after him.
Earlier in Duncan there was a Chinese town near Cowichan’s valley which once used to be the social center for Chinese people. But later on due to strict laws the buildings and businesses closed down.
Duncan is considered the home of the traditional Coast Salish Indians. With a beautiful landscape this city has now emerged as one of the progressing towns in British Columbia.
Duncan has a moderate climate and maintains a pleasant and cool throughout the year.
According to 2006 census this place has a population of 4,986.
