Tourist Guide Nanaimo
Nanaimo can be referred to as the 2nd biggest city located in British Columbia on Vancouver Island, Canada.
Nanaimo has been dubbed as ‘Harbor City’ and ‘Bathtub racing Capital of the World’. At times, it’s also called ‘Hub City’ owing to its ‘central location’ over ‘Vancouver Island’; and also owing to layout of ‘downtown streets’ that go on to form ‘hub’ pattern.
People fondly call it “Hub, Tub, and Pub City”. It’s seat of ‘regional District of Nanaimo’.
Nanaimo is located at a distance of 55 Km on the western side of Vancouver; completely separated by Strait of Georgia.
However, it’s linked on the direct basis to Vancouver through BC Ferries. Due to proximity on its part to Vancouver, this city is gateway to several other destinations which stand on island.
The other nickname obtained by Nanaimo is ‘A mall in search of a city’ due to malls which happen to stretch between north and south.
The population as per 2006 census was 78692.
