New Westminster is a historically important city in the Metro Vancouver region of British Columbia in Canada. This city was founded as the second capital of the Colony of British Columbia from 1858 to 1866.
New Westminster is a city which is located on the Burrard Peninsula on the north bank of the Fraser River. The city is 19 kilometers to the southeast of the Vancouver city and is adjacent to Burnaby and Coquitlam. It is across the Fraser River from Surrey. Further, there is a small portion of New Westminster which is known as Queensborough and which is situated on the eastern tip of Lulu Island, adjacent to Richmond. The total area of the land is 15.3 square kilometers.
New Westminster has a total population of 54,656 as per the 2001 Census. This city has been drastically changed by time and even by the results of its incorporation into the wider urbanization of the Lower Mainland. The summer average is 18 degree Celsius and the winter average is 5 degrees Celsius.
