The Province of British Columbia in Canada has a city called as Port Alberni. This city is the seat of the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional district. This city was rightly called as the “Salmon Capital of the World.” However, in the recent past, the population of salmons has diminished considerably. The city is located in the Alberni Valley at the head of the longest inlet of Vancouver Island called as Alberni Inlet. The Alberni Valley abounds in several snow-covered peaks like Mount Arrowsmith and Mount Klitsa. Just 10 kilometers towards the West of the city, the Sproat Lake can be reached. The city lies on the banks of the Somass River.
As per the census held in 2007, the population of Port Alberni was 17,743.
