Salmon Arm is a city situated in the interior of the Canadian province of British Columbia. It has a population of 16,295. This city is on the shores of Shuswap Lake where the Salmon River empties into the Salmon Arm reach of the Lake. It is the seat of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District.
Salmon Arm became a city in 2005, its 100th birthday of incorporation. Mt.Bastion is directly north of the city across Shuswap Lake. This city benefits from close access to the Canadian Pacific railway.
The mild climate in the city allows activities in any season and the pleasant summer days are with 21 degree Celsius. The climate is mainly hot dry summers with a moderate cold winter.
The largest employer in the city is the forest industry and such related business. This city experienced Wildfire in 1998 with many losses to land, forest, people and the environment. This fire was spread to over 13,500 acres of land.
