The Beacon Hill Park derives its name from the two beacons located on the Mount Beacon. The Beacon located on the western side is triangular (blue) while the other one is a square (green). The Privy Council in the year 1862 ordered the Hudson’s Bay Company to surrender the disputed land of the Beacon Hill Park and convert it into a Public Park. In 1882 the city of Victoria became the trustee of the Beacon Hill Park.
