Vancouver, British Columbia’s Commercial Drive has the distinction of being the city’s largest and most unique collection of shops, restaurants and other businesses. Stretching 22 blocks from Venables Street to East 13th Street in the northern part of town, Commercial Drive is almost a mile-and-a-half long and features over 300 establishments.
Many of Commercial Drive’s businesses, which include clothing shops, record stores, book stores, salons, bakeries, cafés, restaurants and much more, are owner-operated and only found along this one-of-a-kind stretch of road. Over the years, the district has largely shied away from chain stores and restaurants in an attempt to maintain its unique atmosphere and remain one of Vancouver’s true treasures.
Often referred to as “Vancouver’s Expressive Edge,” Commercial Drive is widely considered to be one of North America’s hippest neighborhoods.
