Vancouver Opera is known as the second largest performing arts organization in British Columbia. It is also the largest company in west Canada. This opera performs in the Queen Elizabeth Theater which is accompanied presently by the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, which again is one of the two specialized opera orchestras in Canada. Founded in 1958, it presented its first production in 1960.
