There are scores of tips to save up some money during your trip to Vancouver, even if, as with any large city, sometimes they can be not so straightforward.
To start with, where to stay is fundamental; there's a good place to check out, the Budget Inn Patricia Hotel that is located within blocks from Chinatown and Gastown, two places definetely to see in Vancouver. It's also easy to access from here to other city's attractions such as Stanley Park, Granville Island or Grouse Mountain.
The hotel is also home to a pocket friendly pub, the Pat's Pub and Brewhouse, where guests can taste Pat's Classic Lager micro-brewed on the spot. The place is at 403, East Hastings St., Vancouver.
Well, the more you can save on your stay, the more you'll have to spend on travelling experiences! As for getting around town you can get the Sky Train that covers most of the important areas in the city: you can ride the train or any other city bus for 9$ a day. Taxis are fairly inexpensive for such a large city, the fares are around 5-10$ for most short downtown rides. Cosmpolitan Vancouver offers a wide range of dining budget options. Asian specialities are a favourite and if your budget get really tight there are plenty of Fish 'n' Chips around!
Attractions of British Columbia also display beautiful botanical gardens; among those a world wide known is the Van Dusen Botanical Garden, gorgeous in every season. The admissions are 9$ for an adult, 20$ for a family. Another great attraction is Stanley Park and if you rent a bike or bring a pick-nick lunch you'll sure to make the most of it and you'll enjoy it at its best!
Get down to Gastown which is Vancouver oldest section, full of restaurants, nightlife, galleries and a charming architecture to cherish for free!
