There are a number of events which are held year in the month of July. The city hosts the Tour de White Rock which is a bicycle race and which attracts over 150 local as well as international riders. The event was part of the Canadian Cycling Association’s National Road Race Series in 2005.
Further, each year in the month of August, the community celebrates the Spirit of the Sea Festival on the White Rock Beach. This festival began in 1949 and includes lots of music and entertainment. There are parades, music stages, fireworks, a sandcastle competition and many other beach related activities. The festival began in 1949.
The White Rock Pier is another historic landmark which dates back to the 1920s and which is one of the city’s finest tourist attractions boasting 1,559 feet of boardwalk. It features a boat launch for sea faring visitors and the pier attracts a multitude of strollers, crab fishers, sea gulls and pier jumpers in the months of hot summer.
