Churchill is a small arctic town located in northern Manitoba, Canada. It lies at the mouth of the Churchill River and on the south-western shore of the Hudson Bay, with the Artic Tundra dominating the northern region.

Churchill is Canada’s main Arctic seaport. The city is the northern terminus of the Hudson Bay Railway, which is the only link to the rest of the country; the town airport with its 2,800 m long runway is capable of handing most large aircraft.

The city is often referred to as the Polar Bear Capital of the World because of the many polar bears that can be seen moving to the shores in the autumn. The rest of the year sees a strong Northern climate with intense cold winters.

The population of the city is a mere one thousand. Owing to the large number of polar bears, the town has a growing tourism industry, especially ecotourism.
