The main attraction in Fredericton is the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, which houses an excellent collection of British paintings. The York Sunbury Museum displays the domestic and military history of the city. Also worth visiting are the Christ Church Cathedral, a nineteenth-century Gothic structure, and the seventeenth-century Old Government House.
An interesting landmark is the Kings Landing Historical Settlement, which depicts life in the nineteenth-century with over 70 historic buildings from that period. The majestic Provincial Legislative Assembly Building, seat of the Provincial government contains a complete set of copper-plated engravings of the ‘Birds of America’ by American naturalist, John James Audubon.
For recreation, head to the Mactaquac Provincial Park, a 1,200-acre site with golf courses and camping sites.
Make sure to visit the Farmers’ Market, where you not only find foodstuff, but also local artwork.
