Riding National Park that sits at the peak of the Manitoba Escarpment is a national park in Manitoba. This park is home to moose, wolves, black bears, elk, countless insects, hundreds of bird species and a captive bison herd. Riding National Park is well accessible by bus and car from centres to the south and north. A permit is needed to enter the park by motor vehicle. Several activities offered by the park includes hiking and backpacking, cycling, horseback riding and horse drawn carriage, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, boating, canoeing and kayaking, sailing, swimming, scuba diving, skateboarding etc. Duck Mountain Provincial Park, situated in western Manitoba, is a 600 km forest. Baldy Mountain is the highest point among the Duck Mountains. The forest has rolling landscapes and the soil is stony, with numerous creek channels and ponds. The trees found in the forest includes black spruce, white spruce, tamarack larch, jack pine, balsam fir, quaking aspen, paper birch and balsam poplar. The forest has become an environmental shelter for land animals like moose, black bear, wapti, grey wolf, bobcat etc.
