Flin Flon can be described as one of the mining cities in Canada as well as border city with regards to Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Most of this place lies in province of Manitoba.
Flin Fon had been founded by Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting in the year 1927 to have exploited the huge zinc and copper ore resources within the region. In 1920s, the above-mentioned company went on to invest in smelter, mine, railway, and hydroelectric power plant of 101 megawatts. By the year 1928, rail line managed to reach the mine.
Flin Flon went on to grow in a considerable manner in 1930s as peasants who were left impoverished due to Great Depression left their farms forever to work in mines. On 1st of January, 1933, municipality got incorporated. In the year 1970, community could reach city status.

Population per 2006 census was 5594.
