Thompson: Attractions and more...
Pisew Falls Provincial Park is a thing worth exploring. Its name has been translated from local ‘Cree’ language; which means ‘Lynx’. This name was also given due to sound of ‘hissing water’ bearing resemblance to sound of ‘wild northern feline’.
Pisew Falls Provincial Park has been created due to intensive geological activities taking place in this regions long time ago; i.e. when violence on the part of tectonic movements resulted in creation of a fault, followed by upheaval of fault-line’s southern side.
The above-mentioned movements have left a ‘rift’ within the landscape; with waterfall cascading through and over it.
Hiking and camping
Camping isn’t permitted at falls themselves. Electrical services are also not provided. It’s an amazing picnic spot; along with being a grand place to stop if one travels towards south or north.
