Winkler is the region of Manitoba which is situated on the coasts of the ancient glacial Lake Agassiz. The Town is just a few km east of a secondary beach. The Emerado Beach splits the soil of the area and the soil is good for irrigation and production of corn, bean crops and potato. The quality of the soil is too good to cultivate sugar beets, corn and beans and small grains. The climate is continental, including freezing winters and warm hot summers. In January, the temperature may go up to -15.6 degrees C and in July it reaches 20 degrees C. The country receives an annual rainfall of 416mm. Winkler has a frost-period of 125 days and gets maximum heat units for crop production. The snow fall of the region is around 119.7 annually. Winkler owns the highway system for primary travelling to other places. Transportation to Winnipeg includes PTH 14 and 3, PTH 23 and 75, PR 428 and 75 or PTH 14 and 75. Winkler provides a daily bus service to Winnipeg, including Purolater courier and Loomis services.
