This region has many tourist attractions; an important one is the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton, which houses an excellent collection of British paintings. Also in Fredericton is the Kings Landing Historical Settlement, an interesting landmark which depicts life in the nineteenth century. The New Brunswick Museum in St John houses ethnological and historical material of this region. New Brunswick not only inherited a rich heritage but also has many beautiful natural attractions. Kouchibouguac National Park is a delight for any tourist with its barrier islands, sand dunes, lagoons, salt marshes and forests. Parlee Beach, a popular recreational beach known for its warm waters, is well frequented. For something unique, try whale-watching. New Brunswick has a number of festivals. The Miramichi Folksong Festival, a unique folk festival, is extremely popular. For a taste of France, attend the Caraquet Annual Fine Wine and Food Festival. The Fiddlehead Festival held in May is a traditional celebration of the Wolastoqiyik culture.
