Dieppe can be described as a city situated in County of Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada.
Dieppe lies on Petitcodiac River on the eastern side of Moncton.
In spite of being considered once as a ‘suburban bedroom community’, Dieppe now is the quickest growing municipality within Atlantic provinces.
Moreover, it’s the fifth quickest city growing within Canada; that too, with a rise of 24.2%25 with respect to population as per ‘Statistics Canada’. Its economy has been centered on transportation, logistics and service industries.
Dieppe was originally called Leger Corner. Its present name is the consequence of incorporation in the form of a town which can be traced back to the year 1946 to honor Canadian soldiers who were killed in 1942 ‘Dieppe Raid’ in ‘Dieppe’, France.
Municipal status of Dieppe in the year 2003 got changed from ‘town’ to city; for averting amalgamation with ‘Moncton’.
