Fredericton is the capital of the Canadian province of New Brunswick.
Initially, Fredericton served as a location for aboriginal settlements. It was later captured by the French, and then colonised by the British. After the American Revolution, this place was named ‘Frederick’s Town’, in honour of the second son of King George III of the United Kingdom, Prince Frederick Augustus, Duke of York. The name was shortened to ‘Fredericton’ upon being made capital.
Fredericton has a semi-continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters. The temperature in January is around –15°C, while in July it is about 26°C.
Fredericton and its surroundings are rich in natural resources, which make it ideal for agriculture. With a population of 50,000, the locals are mainly engaged in agriculture and industry.
