Newfoundland boasts of one of the best skiing locations, Marble Mountain, which serves as a major attraction in the winters. Visitors who enjoy hiking should try the hiking trail that runs the length of the eastern edge of the Avalon Peninsula. There are two national parks in Newfoundland, the Gros Morne National Park and the Terra Nova National Park, both worth a visit. The Barachois Pond Provincial Park features a hiking trail up to Erin Mountain and is considered to be a model forest. Visit the historical site of Titing Harbour, one of the most recognised sites for its Irish influence. St John, one of the oldest cities in North America, has several attractions to offer itself. The Basilica Cathedral Museum possesses one of the largest collections of church art and artefacts. Festival 500 is world renowned international coral music festival, one of the premier events of the region. The St John’s Jazz Festival is another popular festival. The most popular event remains the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival.
