Alexander House is the oldest house in Bonavista, about182 year old and was established in 1811 by Alexander Straithie, a tradesman from Scotland. It is also the oldest surviving structure documented in Newfoundland. The house is located on the Walkham's hill and is owned by William Alexander. The house is being used as a lodging house for commercial travelers. The house is known for its original shape and design and very few changes have been made in the house. Visitors often come here seeking for temporary accommodation.
