St John’s, popularly known as the Greatest Little City in the East, is the capital city of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada. The city lies within the Avalon Peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean and is the most easterly city in North America. The St John’s International Airport caters to the air needs of the city.
St John’s is the cloudiest and foggiest of all the major cities in Canada, counting hardly 1,500 hours of sunshine annually. The average temperatures in summers are around 10°C– 20°C. In winters, temperatures fall as low as –8°C.
The city has a vivid, exciting heritage and is considered to be the oldest English-founded city in the North American continent. More than 100,000 people live in St John’s, which is also the main financial and commercial hub of the province.
