Things to Do in St John’s, Newfoundland: attractions to See in St John’s

St John’s: Attractions and more...

One of the chief attractions of St John’s is Signal Hill, which offers excellent views of the city. The hill also faces the nineteenth-century Fort Amherst, the first lighthouse built in the province.

Nature lovers should experience Canadian nature at the 50-acre Bowring Park with its walking trails and monuments. You can even explore the natural animal habitats at the Salmonier Nature Park. For the less adventurous, visit the eighteenth-century Newman Wine Vaults, which is one of the city’s oldest buildings.

Cape Spear lighthouse, a short drive from the city, has the distinction of being the most easterly point on the continent. St John’s boasts some beautiful churches like the Roman Catholic Basilica of St John the Baptist which dominates the city skyline with its 43-m high twin towers.

Don’t forget to go on the eerie St John’s Haunted Hike which takes you on a tour of the city while telling you about the ‘darker’ side of the city’s past.
