Halifax: Attractions and more...
Begin your tour of the area at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, which has recovered wooden artefacts from where the fateful Titanic ship sank (around 121 of the Titanic survivors are laid to rest in a long solemn line at the Fairview Cemetery).
Outside the museum is a docked hydrographic British vessel called CSS Acadia which can be explored in the summer.
Also visit the Halifax Citadel, which is an old star-shaped fort on a hill overlooking the city. This national historic site has a museum and a fantastic view of the harbour and the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge which connects Halifax to the city of Dartmouth.
Another spectacular monument is the gothic-styled Cathedral Church of All Saints. Not too far away are the Waterfront, which offers you an excellent view of the city’s harbour, and the Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum, with its superb collection of artefacts and aircrafts on display.
