Tourist Guide Sydney
Sydney is located in the province of Nova Scotia. It is located east coast of Cape Breton Island.
Sydney was incorporated as a city in the year 1904 but dissolved in the August 1995 when it got merged into the regional municipality. It is one of the urban cent res on Cape Breton Island.
Sydney got its name from Viscount Sydney and was founded by Col Joseph Fredrick Wallet Des Barres in the year 1785.
During the year 1784 to 1820 Sydney was the capital of the British Colony in Cape Breton Island.
By the early twentieth century the town has emerged as one industrial hub in this area. With largest steel plants and coals mines Sydney’s economic curve was rosining high. But in the year 1960 the coal mining industry and steel plantation went through bad times and those two industries were closed. After wards the economy is dependent on tourism light manufacturing units and information technology.
The climate of this place is quiet pleasant.
The population of this city comes to 24111 according to 2001 census.
