Igloolik is a hamlet situated on a small island in Foxe Basin in Qikiqtaaluk in the state of Nunavut. It lies adjacent to the flat expanse of the Melville Peninsula's east coastal plain. The name of the hamlet means that 'there is an igloo here'. The region covers a total area of 39.7 sq miles and has an elevation of 174 feet. As per the census of 2006, the hamlet had a population of 1,538 inhabitants and the people here are called as Iglulingmiuts. Igloolik is a tiny island which can be explored in a single day.
