Things to Do in Iqaluit, Nunavut: attractions to See in Iqaluit

Iqaluit: Attractions and more...

Grab a parka or some real good winter gear and prepare for the attractions Iqaluit has to offer. All across the city, you will find Inuit-designed architecture, especially the igloo-shaped St. Jude’s Anglican Church with its rising spire.

Another church worth mentioning is the white-washed Iqaluit Pentecostal Church which blends in so well with the snow that it can be difficult to spot it in the winter. Also visit the Quammaarviit Territorial Historic Park, 12 km away from the city, which has the remains of houses built by the Thule people.

Arctic beauties like glaciers, ice caps and a polar oasis can be found at the Quttinipaaq National Park. Don’t forget the Nunatta Sunakkutaangit Museum which has excellent collections of Inuit and Arctic artwork.

The Nunavut Legislative Assembly building is a must-visit attraction with its paintings and tapestries, a fine example being a 7 ft long narwhal tusk in the shape of a sceptre with a diamond tip.
