Rankin Inlet is a region situated in Kudlulik Peninsula in the state of Nunavut in Canada. It is the regional center for the Kivalliq Region and lies on the Hudson Bay between the Arviat and Chestrefield Inlet.
The hamlet covers a total area of 7.8 sq miles and has an elevation of 92 feet. The hamlet had a population of 2,358 people as per the 2006 census. The climate is cold and harsh and one can experience severe winter storms and chilling wind.
The landscape of this region is full of vast ice fields and flower filled tundra. There are several lakes, bays and islands nearby. The natural surroundings are perfect for attracting tourists who come here for fishing, hunting, canoeing and snowmobiling. The best time to visit is in late spring and through the summer when the temperature reaches 10ºC.
