The Bytown Museum is a small museum in Ottawa, Ontario. This museum is housed in a stone building which was built in 1827 and was designed by Thomas McKay.
The museum was established in 1917 to house the collection of artifacts which the society had amassed since its founding in 1898. Opened by the Women’s Canadian Historical Society of Ottawa, the museum explores the city stories and its residents from its early days as Bytown and the construction of the Rideau Canal.
