Tourist Guide Saint Catharines
One of the largest regions in the Niagara Region in Canada and sixth largest urban region is Ontario, Canada; the city of Saint Catharines’ area is 97.11 square kilometer. It is located at a distance of 51 kilometer from Toronto in Southern Ontario. The US border is located at a distance of 19 kilometer from the place. It serves as the northern entrance to the Welland Canal. It is one of the main cities which are located on the main telecommunication network between United State and Canada.
The total population of the area in 2006 was 131,989, while the population of the metropolitan area was 390,317. The city is also called “The Garden City” as it is bestowed with groomed parks, trails and garden covering an area of almost 1000 acres. The District School Board of Niagara is the largest employer apart from the Canadian subsidiary of General Motors which has two plants in the area.
Due to the moderating affect of the Lake Ontario and Lake Erie the area has a unique micro climate. Large numbers of days in winter are frost free and in summer the season is warm.
