Tourist Guide Thunder Bay

Thunder Bay can be described as a city in as well as country seat with respect to Thunder Bay District, Ontario, Canada. It’s, in fact, amongst the most densely populated municipalities all over Northwestern Ontario.

In the late 16th century, European settlement started in this region. The formation on the official level took place in the year 1970; thanks to merger of cities of Port Arthur, Fort William, and geographical townships pertaining to Mclntyre and Neebing. Its port goes on to form a significant link in shipping of food grains and the other products via Great Lakes and towards the eastern coast.

The name ‘Thunder Bay’ has been adopted from a ‘referendum’ that was held on 23rd of June, 1969 with the objective of determining novel name of amalgamated Port Arthur and Fort William.

As per census conducted in the year 2006, population of Thunder Bay was 109140.
