Ancienne-Lorette is a suburb towards the West of Quebec City in Canada. This city in Central Quebec was combined with Quebec City from 1st of January 2002 to 31st December 2005. However, as per a referendum made on 20th June 2004, it was recreated as a separate city on 1st January 2006.
In 1674, a group of Huron were at war with Iroquois. They ran away, took protection of the French and settled in this suburb. After staying for a few decades, the Hurons left this place and the settlers from France captured this land.
A prominent landmark of Ancienne-Lorette is a church in the city which can be seen from a far distance. It is a two-spired one. The artist, Antoine Plamondon, was born in Ancienne-Lorette.
The population of Ancienne-Lorette as per the 2001 census is 15,929.
