Tourist Guide Isle-aux-Coudres
In the Charlevoix Region of Quebec, the Saint Lawrence River flows and in this river there is an island called as Isle aux Coudres. In the French language, “Coudriers” means “nut tree.” As there were several nut-bearing trees on this island, Jacques Cartier named it so in 1535. The length of the island is 11 kilometers and the width of the island is 3 kilometers. The municipality of this island is called as L ‘isle-aux-Coudres. It is thought that this island was created when material was lifted due to the impact of a meteor in the Charlevoix Region. On the North shore of the River, there is a free ferry service that travels from Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive to this place.
This island is a favorite spot for cyclists. The island is reputed for tourist accommodations, historical sites and craftspeople. Throughout the island there are interpretation panels that explain the various cultural and natural aspects of the island. These enable the tourists to know more about this piece of land that has been encircled by water.
