Previously, the WHO had recommended travellers to postpone their travel plans due to the outbreak of SARS but now this condition has been lifted and there are no official warnings for travellers visiting the city.
The normal precautionary measures such as being aware of thefts at airports and avoid travelling alone after dark need to be followed.
Canada is a friendly and safe destination to travel in but one can recommend a few safety measures for tourists to follow such as dialling 911 in case of emergencies, checking the health inspections codes in restaurants before eating (such as green which indicates safe to eat and yellow and red as unsafe).
While travelling in the trams within the city be careful while getting on and off as they stop in the middle of the road and if one is not used to them one may be exposed to injury.
Certain areas where the crime rate is high should be avoided such as Jane & Finch, Bloor to Queen, Sherbourne to Parliament and clubs in this area.
