Salaberry-de-Valleyfield is located in the south western part of Quebec in the regional County Municipality of Beauharnois- Salaberry.

The place was named after Colonel Charles de Salaberry from the British Army during the War of 1812. The name Valleyfield came from Valleyfield mills.

The Deux Rives Ecomuseum displays the economic and cultural heritage if this city. The city is set in the midst of beautiful landscape with a population that includes various races and reflecting a mixed culture.
