Tourist Guide Sept-Îles
Sept-îles means seven islands in French. This city is located Cote Norde region of eastern Quebec in Canada.
This place was first inhabited by Montagnais Innu people who called this place as Great Bay or Uasahat. Earlier the occupation of the people was fishing and fur trade and they earned revenue from it. The trading posts were established at Louis Joliet in the year 1679. This was a village that got incorporated in the year 1885 to a municipality and it was declared city in the year 1951.
Although the present city was took its form in an overnight during the construction of Quebec North Shore and Labrador railway. This railway route served the link to the northern town of Schefferville during 1950 to 1954.
The climate of this place is quiet moderate and can be visited at any time of the year.
The population of this town comes to 25,514 according to 2006 census.
