Shawinigan is a city and is located on the Saint Maurice River in the Maurice area of Quebec.

The city is based on lumber and agriculture. The land has proved to be very successful and crops started bearing fruitful. In the early nineteenth century Shawinigan Falls was a place of interest for the John Joyce and JE Aldred of the Shawinigan and many other foreigners.

 For some decades the pulp and paper industry, chemical industry and textile industry were main source of revenue earners for this town. The city was growing steadily towards east ward and north ward. And after some time the city became the residential hub.

Various kinds of people can be found in this place reflecting various cultural heritage of this place.

The climate of this place is moderate and attracting various tourists throughout the year.
