There is an enclave within Quebec City, Quebec, called as Wendake. This was previously known as the Huron-Wendat reserve. The area of this reserve is only 360 acres (1.46 square kilometers). In the past, the other names of this reserve were (Jeune)-Lorette, Huron Village or Village-des-Hurons. The people living in this place are called as Huron-Wendats. They initially came from the Georgian Bay Region. In 1634, this Huron population was almost 20,000 to 30,000. In 1650, just a few hundred remained due to wars with the French and British as well as epidemics.
As per the 2001 census, the population of this Indian reserve was 1555.
The ideal time to visit Wendake is during Summer from June to August when the temperature varies from 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. From late November to early April, the temperature drops below freezing point. During January, the temperature alters from -8 to -17 degrees Fahrenheit.
